Reimagining Classics with AI

The Girl with the Pearl Earring has been painted, photographed, and referenced countless times. But what happens when you give her a second life in an editorial campaign?

In this tutorial, we’ll walk through how to use Ideogram inside FLORA to customize characters, maintain style consistency, and achieve accurate results across complex faces and expressions.

The Challenge: Complex Faces, Consistent Results

Creative teams often run into two issues when working with AI for characters:

  • Losing consistency across multiple edits

  • Limited creative control when refining details

Ideogram in FLORA solves both by letting you work iteratively with prompts, reference images, and models until the output is production-ready.

Step 1: Create a Prompt

Start with a Text Block in FLORA. Write your base description of the scene, subject, or mood. Pair this with a reference image to define tone and style.

Example: Begin with a realistic prompt, then refine toward editorial aesthetics.

Step 2: Refine the Reference Image

Use Runway for realism to create strong base imagery. Then experiment with adjustments:

  • Make hair more surreal and matted

  • Change shapes (e.g. star-shaped hair)

  • Add curls for texture

  • Extend aspect ratios for wider or taller shots

Each iteration helps lock in the exact look before moving to face swapping.

Step 3: Add Surreal Elements

Push your composition further with small but powerful touches:

  • Add bubbles or raindrops for depth and atmosphere

  • Play with lighting for cinematic mood

  • Test multiple variations to find the most natural feel

Step 4: Swap Faces with Ideogram

Now comes the transformation. In FLORA:

  • Use your refined image as the first reference (environment + body)

  • Add your target face (e.g. the Pearl Girl) as the second reference

  • Switch to Ideogram Character

The result? Consistent, realistic face swaps that blend seamlessly with your creative direction.

Step 5: Mock It Up in Context

Extend the output vertically or horizontally using Flux Context. Then place your images into editorial mockups—like i-D magazine covers—to see them in real-world applications.

This step bridges concept and production, showing clients exactly how the creative vision lives beyond the canvas.

The Outcome

By combining FLORA’s node-based workflows with Ideogram’s character consistency, you can:

  • Maintain control over complex facial features

  • Seamlessly merge surreal edits with realistic outputs

  • Prototype editorial-quality campaigns in minutes

“Ideogram is a super simple model. It can be used at the start or the finish of a workflow—making it perfect for both concepting and final polish.”
